Vintage and antique items do add a taste to class and elegance to your home décor. There are many ideas that you can use to decorate your home and make them vintage. There is however nothing that will scream vintage than the old picture frames.

You may choose to buy the old picture frame. However, if you want a unique frame, then you may choose to make the frame yourself. This does not necessarily mean that you will buy an old frame, no, you will have to re-paint it to create that ageing design. There are many designs that you may choose from and the distressed photo frames are one of them.

How To Make The Frame

Before you begin the process, you will have to have the necessary tools required for the project. You will need;

• The new picture frame.

• Newspaper; will be used when you are painting.

• Paint; you can choose any color, but ensure that you choose a color that will create a distressed look. It is recommended that you choose black or brown. These colors do create an ageing look.

• Small paint brush.

• Paper towel.

You will then be required to remove the glass from the frame. Take the empty photo frame and place it on a flat surface. You will have to place the newspaper underneath the photo frame so as to protect the surface. Take the small brush and apply a layer of paint on the frame. Be sure to paint the entire frame with a thin layer. You will then be required to rub over the raised edged of the frame using the paper towel. This is so as to remove the excess paint. Add the second layer of paint and repeat the process until you get the required distressed look.
